Each year, thousands of children arrive at our border alone—escaping violence, abuse, abandonment, and exploitation. They come with nothing but courage and hope for a better life. At Estrella del Paso, we help turn that hope into a future. This El Paso Giving Day, Team Bridges of Hope is raising funds to ensure unaccompanied immigrant children receive the legal representation, support, and advocacy they urgently need. With your help, we walk alongside them—so no child has to face a courtroom, or a life-altering decision, alone.
We provide:
• Legal representation in asylum and Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) cases
• Friend of the Court services to help children understand their hearings
• Voluntary Departure assistance when needed
• Court preparation and support through trauma-informed care
• Critical help from legal assistants and orientation specialists who serve as guides, mentors, and lifelines
Looking Ahead with Hope
A child from Ecuador, detained in a temporary shelter, shared their story of surviving brutal abuse—at home, in school, and on the streets. After being abandoned by their father and nearly kidnapped multiple times during their journey through Mexico, they arrived in the U.S. days before turning 18. Estrella del Paso acted quickly, filing an asylum petition within a week. Today, this young person is safe, enrolled in school, and applying for a work permit and Special Immigrant Juvenile Visa.
A childn from Guatemala lost their mother and faced rejection and abuse from their father. Forbidden from attending school, they were forced to work in agriculture at just 10 years old. The child was kicked out of their home with no protection, no support, and no money. In search for a better life, the child made the courageous decision to undertake a dangerous journey to the U.S. alone. Now, more than a year after arriving in the U.S., with the support of Estrella del Paso, this brave child is now in long-term foster care and attending school.
These are just two of the many children whose lives have been changed because someone believed in their right to safety and dignity.
